Josh Branker

We are excited to add Josh Branker to Maryland Trumpet Institute Summer Camp staff as an assistant! Josh has been accepted to the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University and plans to study Music Education and Trumpet Performance (Classical and Jazz) there in the fall. Josh is expected to graduate from Centennial High School (CHS) in May 2019 where he is very active in the band program under the direction of David Matchim. Josh was first trumpet in the CHS Symphonic Winds, during his sophomore and junior years, and has been a member, during his junior and senior years, of the internationally recognized CHS Wind Ensemble that participated in the 2018 Midwest Clinic music conference. This past year, Josh also auditioned for and was selected to participate in the Peabody Wind Ensemble, the Howard County Gifted and Talented Youth Repertory Orchestra, the CHS Early Bird Big (Jazz) Band, that placed third at the 2019 Berklee High School Jazz Festival, and the Howard County Gifted and Talented Jazz Band. He is lead trumpet in both jazz bands. Josh has studied privately for eight years, formerly with Nate Royer, and currently with Todd Butler (Jazz), and Brent Flinchbaugh (Classical). In addition to trumpet, Josh plays piano, percussion, and guitar, as well as sings in two choirs.
